About Hospital Charges

1.Billing and Payment for Hospital Charges

In principal, we will charge once a month. The monthly bill is closed at the end of the month and charged after the 10th of the following month.However, those who stayed in the private room will be charged twice a month. The first bill is closed on the 15th and charged after the 20th. The second bill is closed on the last day of the month then charged after the 10th of the following month.

  • For those who will be discharged, invoices will be given on the day of discharge. Please make payments before you leave the hospital.
  • Please pay at the Billing and Payment counter on the 1st floor.
  • We accept credit cards and debit cards.

Additional fees will be charged for reissuing receipts, thus please keep your receipt in a safe place.If you have any questions regarding payment, please visit the Billing and Payment counter on the 1st floor.

The following applies only to those who have an
insurance card in Japan.

2.About High-Cost Medical Expense Benefit

By presenting Eligibility Certificate for Ceiling-Amount Application to the hospital at the time of admission, the monthly payment at the accounting counter will be no more than the specified amount. For further details, continue reading below. Please note, you will need to fill an application for this certificate to be issued.

Those who are under the age of 70
In cases where patients under 70 are undergoing treatment that requires hospitalization and expect to have a very high medical expense, he/she can apply for the Eligibility Certificate for Ceiling-Amount Application to their insurer. By presenting the certificate to the hospital, hospitalization fees charged at the counter can be reduced.

D. Standard monthly remuneration
Less than 260,000 yen
57,600 yen Maximum cost charged for those utilizing the High-Cost Medical Expense Benefit multiple times in the past 12 months: 44,400 yen/month
E. Insured person exempt from residential tax 35,400 yen Maximum cost charged for those utilizing the High-Cost Medical Expense Benefit multiple times in the past 12 months: 24,600 yen/month

Note: If you are tax-exempt individual, but fall in to category A or B, your calculation is based on the category you fall in.

Those who are over 70 years old
Those who are 70 years old and above, by presenting their “National Health Insurance Card for the Elderly” or “National Health Insurance card for the Latter-Stage Elderly”, the payment will be no more than the specified Individual Limit for Payments.However, those who are of lower income (residential tax exempt households) can apply for a “Certificate for Maximum Amount Application/Standard Payment Reduction Certificate” to their insurer. By presenting these certificates to the hospital at the time of admission, the payment will be no more than the specified amount below.

*1. Insured individuals that are exempt from residential taxes and have a 90% coverage on their medical expenses.

*2. Insured individuals that are exempt from residential taxes and have a 90% coverage on their medical expenses and their household income is under a specific amount.

The benefit of Individual Limit for Payments does not cover the cost of meals, private rooms and hospital gowns.

Furthermore, if you would like to use the said benefit on the month of your admission, please complete the application within the month.

3.About the Costs not Covered by Insurance

Note: We consider“One day” to start at midnight, and the charge of the rooms will be calculated based on that time.The daily cost of a private room will be charged when a patient is admitted after midnight even if he/she stays less than 24 hours.

Fee for Treatment of Patients' Choice

There will be an additional charge for those who wish to stay in the hospital for more than 180 days although their conditions do not satisfy the regulations issued by the Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare. After 180 days of hospitalization, 1,998 yen per day will be charged as a cost of hospitalization and nursing care.

About Application for Medical Certificate and Other Certificates

Please apply for a Certificate of Hospitalization or Medical Certificate at the Documents Receiving Counter on the 1st floor after the day of your discharge.Please visit the Documents Receiving Counter for questions regarding the cost of certificates.
